Job Description

A school we work closely with in the Dudley area are seeking a part time teaching assistant to work as a 1-1 learning support assistant. The pupil you will be working with a young boy in year 1. A successful candidate will need to have experience working with children who have Autism.

The school are looking for someone who is confident, committed, and hard working to fill this placement. This is a part-time, long-term position starting ASAP.

SEN experience is essential for this role.

Typical duties of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes
Supervise and support pupils in access of learning
Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans and Personal Care programmes.
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.
Desirable skills –

A good standard of general education (ie. NVQ level 2 or equivalent)
Good numeracy and literacy skills – GCSE Maths and English
Previous experience of working with young people
Basic understanding of child development and learning
Ability to use basic technology
Ability to relate well to children and adults and respond appropriately
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
Feel confident working 1:1 with a child under the guidance of their teacher
