Job Description

Here at Twenty4seven Education we are looking for a 1-1 SEN teaching assistant to work at a school in Walsall. This Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school are seeking someone for the full academic year to work in their reception class.

This role with require you to work as a 1-1 with a young boy. With this pupil you will need to be confident and comfortable with personal care. The role is working full time till the end of the academic year.

Successful candidates will need to have a considerable amount of experience working with SEND children.

 

Typical duties of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

• Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes

• Supervise and support pupils in access of learning

• Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans and Personal Care programmes.

• Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.

• Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.

 

Desirable skills –

• A good standard of general education (ie. NVQ level 2 or equivalent)

• Good numeracy and literacy skills – GCSE Maths and English

• Previous experience of working with young people

• Basic understanding of child development and learning

• Ability to use basic technology

• Ability to relate well to children and adults and respond appropriately

• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation

• Feel confident working 1:1 with a child under the guidance of their teacher
