Twenty 4 Seven Education are pleased to offer this immensely satisfying learning support role in an improving West Midlands primary school. The successful candidate will be working alongside one student in reception with medical needs. This role is offered full time, during term time.

The Role

The school is looking for a caring and dedicated individual to work on a one-to-one basis with a pupil in reception who has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The main purpose of the role is to monitor and help to manage this child’s diabetes, enabling them to get the most out of their time in school. The successful candidate would be supported by other fully trained staff.

The main responsibilities will include

Working 1:1 with one specific pupil, closely monitoring them for fluctuations in blood sugar levels and helping to manage this.
Following EHCP and liaising with class teacher and parents
Assisting pupil with classwork under the instruction of class teacher
Working in line with the school’s ethos and SEND policies
The candidate:

Must be prepared to help with medical needs of children
Must have some knowledge or experience of diabetes and be confident in identifying fluctuations
Must have a desire to make a positive contribution to the classroom
Must be prepared to undertake training
Must be prepared to work under the instruction of classroom teacher
Must have a desire to make a difference to the progress- academic, social and/or personal- of pupil(s) with additional needs
