Twenty4Seven Education is seeking several adaptable, dynamic and reliable Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistants to work within an remarkable ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted-rated SEND Specialist School. This supportive School are seeking multiple Teaching Assistants to enhance the SEND teaching and learning team. This accommodating school caters for pupils aged 11-18 whose primary need is Communication and Interaction and who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Class sizes are small, usually 12-13, to enable learners to focus and to receive good levels of personalised support in the classroom. Emphasis is placed on preparing learners for their later lives and supporting them to identify and achieve their aspirations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Understand and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding
* Provide 1:1 and/or small group support to reinforce learning expectations
* Offer personalised assistance to students with ASD
* Help implement and monitor any Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
* Help provide an organised, structured and safe environment
* Support students in managing their behaviour following the school behaviour policy
* Maintain clear and professional communication with other colleagues, professionals and parents/carers regarding student progress, well-being and any arising issues
* Assist in preparing teaching materials
* Keep accurate records of student activities, progress and behaviour
* Attend to pupil’s personal care needs
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
* Experience working with children with SEND within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 3 months of experience)
* Child and Adult DBS check on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process)
* You can demonstrate a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to working with children
* You have excellent communication and teamwork skills
