SEND Teaching Assistant – West Malling – January

** Location: West Malling, Kent
** Start: January
** Placement: Full-time, Permanent
** Primary School – Specialist Resourced Provision
** Pay rate: VIAT 3 £16,773 pro rata to £22,887

Twenty4Seven Education is seeking a calm, approachable and flexible Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant, to work within a friendly and successful Resourced Provision (SRP) team at a Primary School in West Malling.  This wonderful opportunity is a full-time permanent role starting January.

The unique SRP is where children with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) make excellent progress and achieve highly. This inclusive ‘Good’ Ofsted rated Primary School has recently been awarded the Autism Advanced Accreditation Specialist Award.

Key Responsibilities:

* You will commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
* You will work with the SRP HLTA and Teacher to support inclusion, integration and teaching and learning for children with SEMH and ASD needs
* Provide personalised 1:1 and/or small group support to reinforce learning expectations
* Help provide a safe, purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment
* Support students in managing their behaviour following the school behaviour policy
* Maintain clear and professional communication with other colleagues, professionals and parents/carers regarding student progress, well-being and any arising issues
* Prepare teaching materials
* Keep accurate records of student activities, progress and behaviour
* Assist with pupils’ personal needs

Qualifications & Experience:

* Minimum Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) with proficient practical skills
* Experience working with children with SEMH and/or ASD within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 3 months of experience)
* Child and Adult DBS check on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process)
* You can demonstrate a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to working with children
* You have excellent communication and teamwork skills
* You are committed to creating a supportive learning environment
