1-1 Teaching Assistant – Rowley Regis

Location: Rowley Regis

SEN Specialism: 1-1 ASC / ADHD (Primary Mainstream Year 6)

Start Date: January

Contract: Ongoing – Part-Time Mornings

Hours: 8:30am-12:30pm

Pay Rate: £35-£50 per day

Job Description:

We are urgently looking for a passionate and hard-working Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Rowley Regis to join their team, starting in January on an ongoing basis.

You MUST be able to commute to Rowley Regis on a regular basis!

This job will require you to assist the teacher in providing an exciting and engaging curriculum, as well as supporting a child identified with Autism (ASC) and/or ADHD. You will be encouraging a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the classroom, which will positively influence the emotional, social and academic development of the children.

The School:

This forward-thinking Primary School located in Rowley Regis caters for students aged 3-11 and are inclusive to students identified with Special Educational Needs (SEN). They aim to provide their children with a safe, secure and stimulating environment which meets the individual needs of all children on an equal opportunities basis, regardless of gender, ability, disability, religious or cultural belief, or racial background. The development of mutual respect and quality relationships is at the heart of all they do. Their children are supported in developing skills and attitudes which will help them to develop in confidence and independence. When children leave them, they want them to have a love of learning which will stay with them throughout their life.

Ideal Candidate will:

·        Have a recognised Teaching Assistant Qualification would be advantageous

·        Have a minimum of 3 months experience working in an education setting, working with students with Special Educational Needs – Especially Autism (ASC) and ADHD.

·        Have experience using communication methods; such as British Sign Language (BSL) and Makaton would be desirable

·        Have an enhanced DBS certificate registered to the update service or willing to pay and apply for a new certificate

·        Have the ability to tailor their skills to meet the needs of each individual child

·        Be kind, caring and patient when dealing with children who require specialist support
