BSL Learning Support Assistant – Hodge Hill – ASAP

Location: Hodge Hill, Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
SEN specialism: HI
Contract: Full Time – Ongoing
Pay rate: £75-85 per day

A highly successful Special Needs School for the Deaf in Hodge Hill, Birmingham are seeking a full time skilled and committed British Sign Language (BSL) trained Learning Support Assistant, to support pupils who are profoundly deaf.  You may also be required to provide signed communication support and voice over for newly appointed teachers who do not yet have British Sign Language Skills. This wonderful opportunity is to start ASAP on an ongoing basis.

To be successful in this role you MUST have a minimum of a Level 2 British Sign Language qualification.

Ideal candidate:
* Experience of supporting pupils identified with having SEND – particularly HI
* Good knowledge of the National Curriculum
* Experience of providing signed communication support and voice over
* Have the ability to effectively manage behaviour using positive strategies
* Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
* Have the ability to form positive professional relationships with young children and staff

Requirements:
* A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification – CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Support Teaching and Learning
* Minimum of 3 months experience of working with children in an educational or similar setting
* Minimum of a Level 2 British Sign Language qualification
* Professional reference checks to cover the last 2 years
* Legal right to work in the UK
* Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to pay and apply for a new certificate
* Excellent knowledge of safeguarding children and young adults – you will need an up to date Safeguarding Training Certificate (we provide FREE Safeguarding Training)
