PMLD Teaching Assistant – North Birmingham – September 

Location: Lea Hall, Handsworth, Erdington, Kingstanding, Sutton Coldfield, Castle Bromwich and surrounding areas

Salary: £75-£85 per day

In preparation for the new academic year and to fulfil the demand for daily and short/long term cover, we are now recruiting enthusiastic, caring, resilient and reliable Teaching Assistants for SEN Schools catering for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in Birmingham.

Teaching Assistant requirements:
* Experience of working in a similar role (a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous)
* Experience of supporting pupils identified with having special educational needs in particular those with PMLD, Complex Needs, Sensory Impairments
* Experience of manual handling and hoists
* Experience of assisting with the development and implementation of Educational Health  Care Plans (EHCP)
* Experience of using communication aids such as British Sign Language, Makaton, Tassels (On Body Signing) or PECS is desirable
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum and/or sensory curriculums eg. Routes for Learning Map
* Experience of educational methods such as Rebound Therapy and Sherborne Body Movement
* Have the ability to effectively manage behaviour
* Team Teach, MAPA or equivalent trained is admirable but not essential
* Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to obtain a new certificate
