School Based Family Support Worker – Dudley – ASAP

Location: Dudley
Contract: Full time – July (in the first instance)
Salary: £90-£130 per day
Start: ASAP

A vibrant and energetic Primary School in central Dudley are seeking a full time Family Support Worker to join their School. This exciting new role is to start ASAP until July however, this has the potential to become a permanent contract for the right candidate.

This post would suit an experienced professional who has previously worked to support families and pupils in an education setting or within social care. The ideal candidate will be looking to challenge themselves and further develop their skills.

The successful candidate will work with families, addressing the needs of children and parents to overcome barriers to learning.

The Role:
This lovely supportive School needs a passionate, nurturing and dedicated Family Support Worker who will (but not limited to):
** Work with parents and carers to provide support and advice, through both self-referral from parents and class teacher referrals
** To prioritise the order in which parents and carers who require support are seen according to the importance of individual need
** To plan and prepare sessions with pupils and small groups, focusing on steps to remove barriers to learning through social and emotional support and wellbeing
** To support class teachers in identifying families in needs
** Negotiate and advocate on behalf of parents or their children as necessary in order to drive changes
** To have a thorough knowledge of all vulnerable groups in the school and follow any strategies or plans to support them

The ideal candidate:
** Relevant recent roles and experience of supporting families in need in a formal setting
** Ability to use a range of verbal and written tools to open lines of communication with parents and carers.
** Understanding of working with children with a range of needs/ SEND and strategies to support them effectively
** Have an thorough understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
** To have a good level of ICT skill to support in day to day communication with families and staff
** Right to work in the UK
** Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to obtain a new certificate
** Safeguarding training within the last 12 months (if you haven’t we provide a free course once you’ve undergone our relevant compliance checks)
