Secondary Teaching Assistant – Central Birmingham – ASAP

Pay rate: £70-80 per day

An ambitious and value-driven Secondary School in Central Birmingham is seeking an inspirational, dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant for a full time role starting ASAP. This exciting new role has the potential to become a permanent contract for the right candidate.

This vibrant Secondary School is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant who will work effectively to secure excellent academic outcomes for students, particularly those working at below age expected levels, identified with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and/or behavioural difficulties. They will need to collaborate with classroom-based staff and successfully contribute to the personal development, behaviour and attitudes of students.

Ideal candidate:
* A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification – CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Support Teaching and Learning or equivalent would be advantageous but not essential
* Experience of working with Secondary age students and those identified with SEND
* Good knowledge of the Secondary National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4
* The ability to follow instructions from the teacher and also be able to work independently
* The ability to implement assessment for learning under the guidance of the teacher
* Have the ability to effectively manage behaviour using positive strategies
* Have high expectations of students to ensure they reach their full potential
* Excellent communication skills (including written, oral and presentation skills)
* Excellent interpersonal skills

Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 months experience of working within a school environment
* Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to obtain a new certificate
* Professional reference checks including a child relevant experience
* Legal right to work in the UK
* Excellent knowledge of safeguarding children and young adults – you will need an up to date Safeguarding Training Certificate (we provide FREE Safeguarding Training)
