SEN Teaching Assistant – Bromsgrove – ASAP

Pay rate: £60-80 per day

A Special Needs School in Bromsgrove are seeking a Teaching Assistant for a full time role starting ASAP until July in the first instance, this has the potential to become a permanent contract. You will be expected to support individual pupils or small groups of pupils across the key stages, who need additional help to achieve their academic potential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ Ofsted rated SEN School aims to provide a high quality education for children and young people aged from Reception to Post 16, with a range of learning difficulties and/or autism. They provide a safe, positive, stimulating and challenging learning environment where all pupils’ needs are identified and met and where progress, achievements and success are recognised and celebrated. In addition, they develop pupil’s personal responsibility and encourage decision making and choice. To achieve this they listen to and respect pupils’ voice and contributions, communicating with them through whatever means appropriate.

At this School children and young people follow a curriculum pathway suitable to their needs and development. There are pathways for children and young people with moderate learning difficulties (MLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and Complex Needs (PMLD). However, these are flexible allowing a student to move between pathways dependent on their development.

Main duties:
* You will support the class teacher with delivery of lessons
* You will follow the direction of the class teacher and support pupils either on a 1:1 or small group basis to support their learning
* You will be providing bespoke support to pupils with a wide range of abilities and needs, tailoring activities to ensure they engage with and complete tasks
* Be committed to preventative approaches to working with pupils with behaviour difficulties and positive strategies for managing and adapting challenging behaviour
* You will need to complete relevant administration tasks

The ideal candidate:
** Experience working with children in the last 5 years including those identified with special needs
** Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or a degree around childcare is admirable but not essential
** Demonstrate positive behaviour management
** Team Teach certification is advantageous
** Good communication and organisation skills
** Right to work in the UK
** Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. Candidates without an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service will have to apply for a new one
