SEN Teaching Assistant – Kidderminster – ASAP

Pay rate: £60-80 per day

A Special Needs School in Kidderminster are seeking friendly, dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants for daily supply and short/long term roles starting ASAP.

The School:
This ’Good’ Ofsted rated school is a broad spectrum special needs school for children aged 3 to 19.  Their vision is to truly ensure that they meet the individual needs of all children and prepare them for adulthood. At this school they foster success by providing a safe, happy environment in which all pupils can develop and achieve. They work tirelessly to meet the needs of all the children, so they develop and progress academically, socially, emotionally and physically. They have an exciting curriculum which is broad and balanced and they make use of their state of the art specialist facilities; including soft play, dark room, sensory rooms, vocational hub, hydropool, gym and riding for the disabled. They are a communication specialist school and use sign-a-long, PECS and communication passports. The school is  also passionate about the benefits of outdoor education and use their outdoor space to their advantage.

Responsibilities and tasks:
** To work in class delivering programmes of work to support individuals and small groups of learners. Promote pupil independence and their involvement in their own learning
** Prepare and organise teaching resources under the direction of the class teacher
** Assist the teacher in the planning and evaluation of work for the children
** Monitor the progress and needs of learners
** To provide assistance with the provision of general care and welfare of learners
**  Promote positive behaviour by responding to incidents of challenging behaviour and to recognise and reward good behaviour
** To maintain an awareness of school policies and procedures

To be considered for this role you would need to have:
** Experience of working with pupils including those identified with having special needs in the last 5 years
** Teaching assistant Level 2 or 3 qualification is advantageous but not essential
** Right to work in the UK
** Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. Candidates without an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service will have to apply for a new one
