SEN Teaching Assistant – Smethwick – April

Location: Smethwick
Contract: Full time – July (in the first instance)
Salary: £65-£85 per day
Start: April

A Primary School in Smethwick are seeking to appoint a full time passionate, caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant, to support pupils identified with special needs (SEND) in the Early Years Department. This exciting new role is to start after Easter however, for the right candidate this has the potential to be extended.

The Role:
The School is looking to recruit a full time pro-active and consistent Teaching Assistant to join their enthusiastic Early Years Department.  As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant you will be allocated key pupils to support their academic and social development.

The successful candidate will assist and work under the direction of the class teacher. You will be able to support and help pupils access the curriculum and possibly tailor the activity to their level of their ability. You will need to build strong relationships with the pupils, teaching staff and potentially parents/carers to ensure that the pupils are achieving their full potential.

The ideal candidate:
** Teaching assistant Level 2 or 3 qualification is advantageous but not essential
** Has experience as a Teaching Assistant in a mainstream Primary School/SEN setting is a must for this role
** Has experience supporting Nursery and/or Reception pupils
** Has experience of aiding pupils with SEND
** Be enthusiastic about helping young people to succeed
** Have the ability to form strong professional relationships with young children, staff and parents
** Have high expectations for the behaviour and academic progress of young children
