A brand new Special Needs School in Wolverhampton is recruiting a confident, passionate and qualified Special Educational Needs and Difficulties Coordinator (SENDCO), to provide an effective and efficient clerical and welfare support to the school. This exciting new full time role is to start January 2023 on a permanent contract. This innovative school offers academic and therapeutic provision for students aged 5-19 with additional Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

Your new School:
This brand new SEN School opening soon is a specialist school providing personalised, tailored academic and therapeutic support in a calm, nurturing environment for students aged 5-19 with social, emotional and mental health needs, including those who face communication and behavioural challenges associated with Autism Spectrum conditions.

Your new role:
* Lead the provision for SEND within school
* Ensure that the SEND Register is kept accurate and up to date and that staff are kept informed of student special educational needs
* Maintain the relationships with parents, teachers, support staff and external contacts to ensure the steady progress of pupils
* Responsible for relevant SEND admin such as reviewing paperwork and chair EHCP meetings with local authorities in attendance
* Ensure a robust process of identifying children for the SEND register
* Co-ordinate, implement and evaluate interventions
* Develop curriculum resources to ensure that have the required levels of support
* Develop and implement SEND policies, plans, targets and practices

The ideal candidate:
* National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo)
* Experience of being a SENCO or Inclusion Lead in the last 5 years
* PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification
* Experience working with children and young people in the last 5 years including those identified with special needs – particularly those identified with ASD and SEMH
* Experience of adhering and contributing to Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP), Annual Reviews and Behaviour Support Plans
* Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum
* Experience of using communication aids such as British Sign Language, Makaton or PECS is advantageous
* Have the ability to effectively manage behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
* Highly organised team player, with a passion for providing children and young people with special needs with the best possible education
* You will be an innovative and dynamic person, who will take a major role in planning, developing and reviewing the learning support for all the young people in the school
* You will be energetic, with a strong sense of moral purpose and the ability to inspire the team to achieve the highest standards
