Teaching Assistant (Part-Time) – Cardiff – ASAP
Job Description
Twenty4Seven Education are recruiting for a part time teaching assistant role in Cardiff – Foundation Phase 1:1 support.
Start date ASAP – 15-20 hours per week.
A small and friendly Primary School in Cardiff are looking for a dedicated and passionate Teaching assistant to support a young child with behavioural difficulties within their Foundation Phase department. The role is long term and is ongoing for the right candidate. You will work 4-5 hours per day, Monday-Wednesday.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for helping the pupil engage in learning activities within the mainstream classroom. The pupil will need support in developing their social interaction skills. You will encourage them to be confident and friendly towards others in group participation. You will need to build a strong rapport with the pupil based on trust and mutual respect. It is important that the child feels cared for and safe so you will support them in the nurture base. It is important that you set boundaries and a routine and that the child engages in this. The suitable candidate will be calm, supportive and understanding with the ability to develop a good relationship with the child. You will be an individual that the child can look up to as a positive role model.
In order to apply for this role, you must have proven experience of working with children within a SEN setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is dedicated to supporting children with additional needs.
Desirable skills or experience –
Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education Early Years
Sensitivity and understanding
Excellent verbal communication skills
To be able to carry out basis tasks on a computer or handheld device
The school is looking to appoint the right candidate ASAP. This job role is a temporary position. However, in some cases a permanent contract can arise at a later date.
