As a Reception Class Teacher, you will play a crucial role in laying the foundations for children’s education and holistic development. Your passion for early years education will shine through as you plan and deliver innovative lessons, tailored to the needs of each child. The main duties of a classroom teacher include:
Plan and teach well-structured lessons, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work
Be aware of effective pedagogical strategies
Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
Be aware of pupils’ capabilities and prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on these
Have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; gifted and talented; EAL; disabilities; and adapt teaching accordingly
Assess, monitor, record and report on the needs, progress and achievements of pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
Establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect and follow the school’s policies for discipline consistently and fairly
The ideal candidate should:
Have QTS
Have knowledge and understanding of current theory and best practice in learning and teaching
Have an understanding of a diverse range of teaching and learning styles and techniques and of effective procedures for managing and promoting positive outcomes and behaviour among pupils
