SEN Teaching Assistant – Cradley Heath
Job Description
Twenty4seven Education are looking for reliable candidates who is passionate about working with children with additional needs. A school we are working with in Cradley Heath are seeking someone to work on a 1-1 basis. The pupil you will be working with is in Year 1 and is non verbal and has Autism. It is an essential requirement that applicants have experience working with children who have Autism.
You will be expected to work in and out of the classroom liaising with the class teacher and school SENCO following a weekly plan for the pupils progression.
Typical duties of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes
Supervise and support pupils in access of learning
Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans and Personal Care programmes.
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.
Desirable skills –
A good standard of general education (ie. NVQ level 2 or equivalent)
Good numeracy and literacy skills – GCSE Maths and English
Previous experience of working with young people
Basic understanding of child development and learning
Ability to use basic technology
Ability to relate well to children and adults and respond appropriately
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
Feel confident working 1:1 with a child under the guidance of their teacher
