We are seeking to permanently appoint skilled and enthusiastic individuals to support pupils within mainstream classrooms with all aspects of their education. As we are an inclusive school these roles may involve working with children with physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, SEMH needs and complex barriers to learning.

The successful candidates will need a wide range of skills to support our children’s needs and will also have a genuine desire to ensure the children they support reach their full potential and have a safe, welcoming and positive learning experience.

Previous experience of working with school-age children would be advantageous but we are also open to applications from graduates considering a career in teaching and wish to gain school experience.

We can offer full-time positions working five days a week (6 hours each day, 30 hours per week) or part-time positions working 2.5 days a week (Mon, Tues, Wed a.m or Wed p.m, Thurs, Fri – 15 hours per week). Please indicate your preference on your application form.

The pay scale is Kent Range 3 at £19,293 per annum for a full-time position, which equates to approximately £13,167 per annum pro rata for a full-time role and £6,583 for a part-time role.

The post holders are required to work for 38 weeks per year (term time only). In addition they will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSE qualifications or equivalent in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above. Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence so please do not declare any qualifications unless you can produce the original certificate.

A formal 30 minute interview will take place with a panel comprising of members of the Leadership Team. Candidates will also undertake a 30 minute English and Maths test.

CVs will not be accepted so please complete the application form in full and explain how your skills and experience make you a suitable candidate for the role.

GPSN is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The interviewee will be asked questions relating to the safeguarding of children.

We are also committed to championing staff wellbeing and all employees can access free counselling, occupational health support and supervision sessions.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and a check against the ISA Barred List for children. All new employees to the School, including those with previous local government service, shall be subject to a 6-month probationary period.
