Deputy Head Teacher – Wolverhampton – January

Salary: To Scale

A brand new Special Needs School in Wolverhampton is currently looking for a Deputy Head Teacher to join and support with planning, creation, opening and running of a successful provision at the school. This exciting new full time role is to start January 2023 on a permanent contract. This innovative school offers academic and therapeutic provision for students aged 5-19 with additional Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

The Role:
As the new and first Deputy Head Teacher, your role will be to passionately and enthusiastically work alongside the Head Teacher to deliver the school’s strategic vision. You will also lead manage and deputise for the Head Teacher as and when required as well as occasionally carrying out the professional duties of a class teacher as required.

The ideal candidate:
* PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification
* Significant and successful experience at senior or middle leadership level within a special school setting
* Recent experience as an outstanding practitioner regarding leadership and teacher of students with a wide range of highly complex needs
* Working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* Effective decision maker
* Good ICT skills and understanding of how ICT can be used to support learning
* Resilient with the ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment
* High level of emotional intelligence with the ability to solve complex issues
