Pay rate: £80-100 per day

An innovative and nurturing Special Needs School in Selly Oak, Birmingham is seeking a full time Family Support Worker for a long term ongoing role.  This amazing opportunity is to start January 2023.

The Family Support Worker will provide the vital link between home and school in order to remove barriers, promote engagement, well-being, safeguarding and support the whole family unit.

The School:
This small, supportive and welcoming Special Needs School caters for pupils aged 3-11 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). They aim to provide educational experiences that consider the individual needs of pupils, appropriate to their age and level of ability. They want pupils to leave the school with functional communication, be able to understand visual information within the community and develop a love of reading.

The role:
As a Family Support Worker you will work with families and other agencies to improve pupil outcomes in relation to attendance, safeguarding and social, emotional and academic achievement.

You will be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) at the school therefore, to be successful in this role you must have completed the relevant DSL/DDSL training within the last 2 years.

As part of the Safeguarding Team you will work closely with the wider DSL Team to ensure that safeguarding at the school is outstanding and supports all of its pupils effectively.

Requirements:
* Previous experience of working with vulnerable children and families
* DSL/DDSL training within the last 2 years
* Annual Safeguarding training completed within the last 12 months (if you haven’t we provide a FREE course once you’ve undergone our relevant compliance checks)
* Ability to engage pupils that have communication difficulties related to Autism and associated complex needs
* A sound understanding of support networks and wider agencies
* Have eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident
* Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to obtain a new certificate
