Twenty 4 Seven Education are pleased to offer the exciting role of Head of PE in a successful secondary school in Acocks Green.

 

The School

We are working alongside this thriving 11-16 secondary school which is part of a trust of seven Birmingham schools. The school, rated ‘good’ in its last OFSTED inspection, is situated in a wonderfully diverse community which celebrates cultural diversity and strives to break down barriers that may face the more disadvantaged members of the cohort. The school takes pride in ensuring that all students reach their full potential.

 

The Role

As head of PE, you will be involved in the teaching and learning of PE for students across all year groups as well as having the responsibility for the smooth running of the department. As part of this role, you will be expected to commit to attending sports fixtures which will often be outside of regular teaching hours.

Responsibilities will include:

Lead, manage and support staff within the PE department
To be a consistently good teacher who sets the standard for other PE staff to follow
Take responsibility for your own and others’ professional development
Use data analysis to track progress and inform practice and teaching methods
To act as a role-model for students and represent the school in a manner consistent with its ethos and values
To ensure that all work with students underpins and promotes the school’s ethos and values
To use data to set high expectations and individual targets for students in every group
Utilise appropriate behaviour management strategies and adhere to the whole school Behaviour for Learning policy and procedures
Ensure the progress of every student within each lesson, across sequences of lessons and throughout modules/schemes of work
The successful candidate will:

Have a good degree, preferably in the subject area
Have QTS and experience of teaching PE across KS3 and KS4
Have a sporting background and expertise
Be committed to a wider school co-curricular programme.
Have a good command of the English language
Have relevant and up to date professional knowledge
Work with honesty and integrity, have a passion to serve the community and commitment to making a difference
