SEMH Teacher – Worcester – ASAP

A forward thinking Short Stay School in Worcester are urgently seeking a full time passionate, dedicated and resilient Teacher to start ASAP. They must have a good knowledge of the KS3/KS4 Curriculum and demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management. The Headteacher is keen for the successful candidate to have previous experience of working with pupils with behavioural issues and they know how to manage behaviour in a positive and effective manner.

The School:
The School is a Short Stay School and their  curriculum  aims  to  either  prepare  students  for a mainstream  provision  or  to prepare  students  for  a  more suitable  educational  setting  for  their specific needs. They give students a fresh start through a person-centred review. Their bespoke curriculum tries to meet the needs of students who struggle to access mainstream education and provide the best opportunities to achieve academic qualifications though overcoming the variety of barriers that its students experience.

Your new role:
You will be teaching KS3/KS4 pupils across the whole school, starting ASAP for an ongoing role. You will need to plan and deliver stimulating and engaging lessons following the schools broad and balanced curriculum. You will need to adapt your lessons to suit all abilities and needs including a substantial number of students who have Special Educational Needs which has hindered their access to learning in the past. In particular a significant  majority  start  this School have not been ready to learn due to their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will need to assess the pupils in their learning so they know their next steps and they can achieve their potential. Pupils will struggle to regulate their behaviour and we need you to support them to learn how to manage themselves so they are ready to leave the School and cope in the world outside.

The ideal candidate:
** Experience teaching in a SEN School, Residential School, Short Stay School and/or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)
** Knowledge and experience on Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH)
** Excellent behaviour management skills
** Calming mannerisms in challenging situations
** Driven to motivate pupils and increase participation
** The ability to grow individual personal development
** Be caring, patient and have good communication skills.
** Be self-reflective, have a willingness to learn and demonstrate initiative

SEMH Teacher requirements:
** Hold a UK teaching qualification: qualified teacher status (QTS)
** Are eligible to work in the UK
** Possesses an enhanced DBS certificate that is registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one
