1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

You will be working Monday – Friday on a 1 to 1 basis with a pupil who has complex behavioural needs. You will be required to help the pupil to interact with other children and engage in group activities, as well as assist with general classroom duties when required.  Individuals applying for this role do not require specific qualifications. However, personal experience of working with SEN pupils is valued. The ideal candidate will have a positive can-do attitude with a genuine desire to help pupils achieve.

Desirable skills or experience – 

Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education Early Years
Sensitivity and understanding
Excellent verbal communication skills
Maths & English at Pass Level or GCSE “C” or above or equivalent
To be able to liaise with a variety of staff including, class teacher, SENCO & HLTA

The school is looking to appoint the right candidate into the school ASAP. This job role is a temporary position. However, in some cases a permanent contract can arise at a later date.

The Role 

The successful candidate will begin working as soon as possible they will be working term time on Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 15:30. They will be working as a teaching assistant and will work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with complex behavioural needs.

As a TA you will:

Work one-to-one with a pupil within the learning resource base
Assist the pupils in accessing the curriculum
Assist the pupils in making progress academically, socially, and personally
Get to know the pupil and learn how to support them further
Work with the pupil and teacher to plan and put into action systems to help the pupil
Get stuck in and explore the world with pupils making a fun and enjoyable learning experience
