Job Description

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Down Syndrome) 

**Location: Vale of Glamorgan

**ASAP Start

**Full time 

**3 Months of relevant experience required 

Twenty4Seven Education is thrilled to be working alongside this Large English medium Primary school located in the Vale of Glamorgan. The school is seeking a caring and passionate Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with a pupil with Downs Syndrome they will work on a one-to-one basis supporting the pupils throughout their daily school life.

The educated team of staff work to create a safe and secure environment developing themselves and their teaching alongside the pupil’s personal growth. They are looking for a passionate and dedicated teaching assistant to provide support for a pupil with down syndrome and continue the supportive and caring learning the school provides.

The Role

The successful candidate will begin working as soon as possible and will continue until the end of the academic year with the possibility of an extension. This is a term-time role from 8:30 to 15:30 Monday to Friday excluding school holidays. The successful candidate will work on a one-to-one basis supporting a pupil with Down Syndrome.

As a 1:1 TA you will:

Work one-to-one with a pupil with Down syndrome
Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum
Assist the pupil in making progress academically, socially, and personally
Get to know the pupil and learn how to support them further
Work with the pupil and teacher to plan and put into action systems to help the pupil
Support the classroom teacher and work in small groups completing learning activities set by the teacher

The successful candidate: 

Will be kind, passionate, and dedicated
Will have an understanding of how to support children with Down Syndrome
Will have experience working within an educational setting.
Will have a good command of the English language.
Will have an understanding of how to support children with SEN
Will have experience working with children with Down syndrome
Level 3 Childcare qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential
