Teaching Assistant – Blackwood (Part Time)

Twenty4Seven Education is currently looking to recruit a passionate and determined individual on the behalf of an English medium school located in the NP12 area. The successful candidate will need to be confident to manage a pupil that is undiagnosed but has challenges and will need to promote nurture and social communication skills. The role would particularly suit someone who has professional or personal experience with children with additional needs. The child needs help with numeracy and literacy as well as social interaction in larger groups.

This role is part time for 10 hours per week. Shift patterns are negotiable depending on the needs of both the pupil and the candidate.

It is important that the candidate can provide a calm and relaxed atmosphere whilst also being enthusiastic to help children reach their full learning potential.

Main responsibilities of the role:

• 1-2-1 support for the child in the classroom and potentially during lunch time

• De-escalate situations when necessary

• Work alongside the teacher to ensure adequate support is being given to the child

• Encourage inclusion with all pupils in the class

• Boost engagement with class work

• Expectation of working with smaller groups of children

The ideal candidate would:

• Have a positive attitude

• Have their own initiative in order to deal with potential difficult situations

• Be able to build strong professional relationships with pupils

• Always be prepared to support the teacher to elevate productivity in the classroom

• Have some professional or personal experience with special educational needs

The requirements for the role are:

• A DBS on the update service (T4S Education can assist)

• Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

• Experience working with children or adults working with additional needs

• A dedication to creating a positive learning environment to pupils who are eager to learn

• Being a resilient, caring and supportive person
