Twenty4seven Education are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a Primary School in Smethwick. For this role you will be expected to work with two pupils. Both pupils have SEMH needs and have will need someone who has had experience working with SEN pupils in a school setting before. This position is working in year 3 and there will be a large element of nurture and behaviour management needed.

Emotion coaching, trauma informed practice and behaviour de-escalation would be preferred for this role.

For this role only candidates who are a level 3 qualified will be considered. This role will require you to work 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday, term time only.

SEN experience is essential for this role.

Typical duties of a (1:1) Teaching Assistant:

Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes
Supervise and support pupils in access of learning
Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans and Personal Care programmes.
Assisting the class teacher with setting up and delivering
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.
Desirable skills –

A good standard of general education (ie. NVQ level 2 or equivalent)
Good numeracy and literacy skills – GCSE Maths and English
Previous experience of working with young people
Basic understanding of child development and learning
Ability to use basic technology
Ability to relate well to children and adults and respond appropriately
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
Feel confident working 1:1 with a child under the guidance of their teacher
