SEN Teaching Assistant – Cardiff- ASAP

We are currently recruiting for the ideal Teaching Assistant to work as a 1:1 within a welcoming school in Cardiff. This job role is part time and you will be required to work 2-3 days per week. This is a unique opportunity to support a child with Special Educational Needs in the Foundation Phase. You will be required to supervise and provide particular support for the pupil, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

Typical duties of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

**Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes

**Supervise and support pupils in access of learning

**Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans and Personal Care programmes.

**Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.

**Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.

Desirable skills –

**A good standard of general education (ie. NVQ level 2 or equivalent)

**Good numeracy and literacy skills – GCSE Maths and English

**Previous experience of working with young people

**Basic understanding of child development and learning

**Ability to use basic technology

**Ability to relate well to children and adults and respond appropriately

**Good interpersonal and communication skills

**Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation

**Feel confident working 1:1 with a child under the guidance of their teacher

The school is looking to appoint the right candidate into the school ASAP. This job role is a temporary position. However, in some cases a permanent contract can arise at a later date.
