Roles and Responsibilities

  • Have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being following statutory provisions
  • Teach engaging and inspiring lessons, fostering curiosity and a passion for reading and writing
  • Create a dynamic classroom environment that encourages discussion, creativity and critical thinking
  • Support students in developing strong literacy skills, enhancing their ability to write with clarity, imagination and purpose
  • Nurture confidence through structured guidance, thoughtful feedback and personalised learning approaches
  • Bring texts to life, introducing students to a rich variety of authors, genres, cultures and viewpoints
  • Using assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify next steps and adapt teaching accordingly
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for every student
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills following the school’s behaviour policy
  • Upholding professional standards and a commitment to ongoing reflection and improvement

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Read the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2025 document)
  • Proven experience teaching English at KS3/KS4 level (KS5 is advantageous)

Vetting Checks:

  • Right to Work in the UK (No Limitations)
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (Child/Child & Adult Workforce)
  • Reference checks covering the last 2 years of employment or education
