Roles and Responsibilities:
- Have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being following statutory provisions
- Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across KS3–KS5 that ignite passion for music and performance
- Inspire students to explore composition, performance and music theory with creativity and confidence
- Organise and lead musical events, concerts and extra-curricular clubs such as choir, orchestra or band
- Foster a positive and energetic classroom environment that celebrates talent and teamwork
- Encourage self-expression and critical listening through diverse musical traditions and styles
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing targeted feedback to help every learner succeed
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills following the school’s behaviour policy
- Work in partnership with parents/carers, ensuring open, respectful and timely communication to celebrate success and address concerns
- Engage in continuous professional learning, embracing feedback and contribute to departmental excellence
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Read the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2025 document)
- Proven experience teaching Music at Secondary level (KS3/KS4, KS5 desirable)
- Strong musical proficiency (instrumental, vocal or compositional)

- Right to Work in the UK (No Limitations)
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (Child/Child & Adult Workforce)
- Reference checks covering the last 2 years of employment or education
